HP unveils SOA software

Hewlett-Packard (HP) has a set of service-oriented architecture (SOA) governance software and services aimed at eliminating risks like service disruption for businesses, says IDM.

HP explains the release of the new governance software aims to capitalise on SOA's ability to deliver IT services using re-usable and standards-based technology that can be aligned to business needs.

HP claims its new validation and implementation services for SOA governance, quality and performance will help reduce risk and boost re-use of individual SOA services.

Mainframes integral to SOA

Mainframe systems are playing a key role in many SOA projects, according to a study released this week by IBM user group Share, says the Washington Post.

Mainframes such as IBM's System z are integral to SOA almost by default, since they contain a large portion of the world's business information, the study suggests.

Nearly 23% of respondents are undergoing an SOA project, and another third is in the planning or consideration stages.

IBM, Fair Isaac merge

IBM and Fair Isaac have expanded their co-operative efforts into a joint strategic and global marketing alliance, says ADT Mag.

Under an agreement, Fair Isaac's enterprise decision management solutions, which typically support decision-making in industries such as finance, insurance and healthcare, will be centred on IBM's SOA products.

Fair Isaac plans to embed its solutions into various IBM middleware, including DB2, WebSphere, Rational tools, Lotus software, including Portal, and the IBM System z and System p platforms.
