Autonomy, an HP company, has unveiled a series of -based solutions aimed at helping companies get a better return on their big initiatives.

Based on HP's Converged Cloud and Autonomy's Intelligent Data Operating Layer (IDOL) 10, the solutions include capabilities for processing Hadoop data, as well as a new clickstream analytics solution. Apache Hadoop is a framework for running applications on large clusters built of commodity hardware.

According to HP, although Hadoop is a widely adopted and proven distributed file system, it does not understand the meaning of concepts contained in the information. The Autonomy solution enables customers and vendors to embed the IDOL 10 engine in each Hadoop node, and take advantage of more than 500 IDOL functions, including automatic categorisation, clustering, education and hyperlinking.

In addition, businesses can combine Hadoop data with other enterprise and external data.

Once Autonomy IDOL 10 is embedded within Hadoop, companies can automatically gain access to the processing power, conceptual understanding and diverse datasets enabled by Autonomy IDOL and technology from Vertica, an HP company.

Says HP, with these solutions, businesses can discover new trends, opportunities and risks, and accelerate revenue growth by understanding and acting on Web clickstream, sentiment and transactional data.

HP and Autonomy say they are uniquely positioned to help businesses make the most of the big data opportunity by providing the scalability, flexibility and real-time conceptual understanding of information companies need to transform islands of disparate data into actionable assets that can drive growth and profits.
