Technology solutions company HR-Focus has appointed Idris Suleman as its new CEO from this month, following the retirement of Chris du Plessis.
The company says Suleman will be instrumental in implementing technological tools that will assist in bridging the gap within the HR industry in terms of performance management, effective employee assessment and talent management within organisations.
“He will be implementing a new dimension of IT solutions to assist in creating best-of-breed talent for organisations in SA. Suleman wishes to create a competitive talent management environment within SA, in order to compete in the global arena and ensure global best practices.”
Tech gap
Suleman says the company's aim is to fill the gap within SA's talent management solutions.
He adds that only large multinational corporations were making use of this technology previously and HR-Focus wants to make it more affordable so smaller companies can also adopt it.
The CEO also says talent management solutions were previously only used for top-level management and the upper echelons of a business, but he believes it should be used in a bottom-up manner.
He says SA has a lot to catch up on in terms of technology uptake in the HR sector. There is a big difference between the local and multinational corporations in this regard.
Community upliftment
HR-Focus says he was instrumental in starting the first IT learnerships accredited by the Information Systems, Electronics and Telecommunications Technologies Sector Education Training Authority to be introduced in SA.
“Throughout his three-decade journey in the business world, Suleman has merged an understanding of the technology with business management best practices, which makes him the ideal candidate for this position.”
He was previously CEO of Fujitsu Technology Solutions in SA. He also had a career at Siemens in a variety of capacities, according to the company.
“I find that HR-Focus and I have shared aspirations. Part of my belief system is to uplift communities through technology and skills; I believe that people are a company's most valuable asset and HR-Focus benefits other companies in managing and advancing just that,” says Suleman.
