Huawei, Symentec joint forces

Telecom equipment giant Huawei Technologies and US maker Symantec have launched a joint venture in southwest China, says XinhuaNet.

The new company, Huawei-Symantec, is 51% owned by Huawei and 49% by Symantec. It features services in storage and Internet safety.

The global market for the storage and Internet safety industry was estimated at $23 billion, with the Chinese market accounting for $1.1 billion.

Dell consults on storage

Dell has launched a storage consulting service designed to help end-user customers, especially in the mid-market, evaluate and plan their storage purchases in terms of scalability and infrastructure requirements, reports eChannelline.

Customers can purchase one of three Dell Storage Simplification Assessment packages either directly from Dell or from one of its registered channel partners.

Also, Dell promised in its official statement that it can deliver an assessment of an end-user's storage needs in a matter of days rather than weeks.

SanDisk looks at 16GB flash

A new 16GB embedded flash drive designed for use in mobile devices is scheduled for release this summer, according to PC World.

Unlike microSD and miniSD cards, the iNAND flash drive is an embedded device.

The 12mm x 16mm iNAND 16GB device is expected to be available for sampling to mobile handset vendors in the second quarter of this year.
