i-Fundi wins call centre from Grintek Telecom

Johannesburg, 14 Jul 2000

The Call Centres World Africa and Customer Contact World Africa exhibition and conferences came to a close yesterday, wrapping up with the giveaway of a 16-seat customer contact centre from Grintek Telecom worth R220 000.

"I just could not believe our luck," says Stefan Lauber, MD of the winning company i-Fundi. "There is a perfect match between what we do and the gift received - it feels like a gift from heaven."

Randburg-based i-Fundi describes itself as a virtual personal assistant. Through its call centre and Web site it organises meetings and appointments, manages and synchronises personal diaries, and features a reminder and notification service. It also secures services and products, finds information and provides office support to corporate employees and entrepreneurs.

The third annual Call Centres World/Customer Contact World event, organised by AiC Worldwide, was sponsored by PQ Telesystems, with co-sponsors including Genesys, Rockwell Electronic Commerce, Goldmine SA, SAP SA, Oracle, Grintek Telecom, Direct Line and Call Centre Nucleus.

The event was held at the MTN Sundome, and according to project director at AiC, Jenne Morrison, went off smoothly, with only minor telecoms hiccups experienced initially. Attendance was over 4000 visitors, up over last year's figure of about 3700, says Morrison.
