IBM banks on SOA

IBM is pursuing a growth strategy to develop business solutions that combines innovation, new business models, technology testing and delivery on a global scale to clients in several industries as well as governments, says The Hindu.

Globalisation has opened up immense markets, and 87% of chief executives polled by IBM felt that fundamental changes are required in the next two years to drive innovation, mainly by integrating business and technology.

IBM believes that a great leap in productivity and growth can be achieved by implementing service-oriented architecture, an open standards Web services platform that it rolled out in 2006.

Cisco unveils new architecture

Cisco has unveiled Cisco Trusted Security (TrustSec), a new architecture that integrates identity and role-based security measures for scaled implementation across enterprise networks, according to ebizQ.

When implemented enterprise-wide, Cisco TrustSec addresses the increasing compliance requirements for a global and mobile workforce, ultimately enabling a more agile and secure infrastructure.

"Customers are demanding a highly secure way to expand their businesses and compliance policies," says Jayshree Ullal, senior VP of the Data Centre, Switching and Security Technology Group at Cisco.

New Zealand seeks EA proposals

The New Zealand State Services Commissioner is seeking proposals for a set of enterprise architecture (EA) tools for use across government agencies, according to m-net.

EA across the government is at various stages of maturity, with many agencies at an early stage of EA development.

The Commissioner wants the EA tools set to be suitable for enterprise architects working in government, provide a common repository to store enterprise architecture artefacts, and provide a common set of enterprise architecture tools.
