IBM scores ElectraCard deal

In one of the largest managed resiliency services deals in India, IBM has signed a 10-year agreement with ElectraCard Services (ECS) to offer operational expertise and solution capability in disaster recovery infrastructure, reports EETimes India.

ElectraCard Services is a wholly owned subsidiary of Opus Software Solutions and provides business critical applications and third party processing services for credit and payment management across the world.

In this multi-million dollar agreement for providing business continuity services, IBM will enable ECS to align its IT initiatives, such as risk management, with their continued business requirements to help them focus on core business while reducing capital expenditure.

Risk management ranks relatively low among the many priorities facing small business owners, is the finding of a new survey conducted by Travelers, states Market Watch.

The survey, conducted at America's Small Business Summit 2010, held from 17 to 19 May, in Washington, also found nearly half of small businesses are operating without a business continuity plan.

"Small business ownership, while potentially very rewarding, also carries with it great risks," said Marc Schmittlein, president and CEO of Travelers Select Accounts. "Owners largely focus their efforts on growing their business and, too often, they overlook risks that could stunt that growth or even shut their doors for business permanently."
