Two targets for 2010 have been set: the country`s 12 million learners must be ICT capable and all 28 000 schools must transform into e-schools, says Western Cape MEC for education, Cameron Dugmore.

Dugmore was speaking at the Computer Society of SA Western Cape Chapter (CSSAWCC) annual dinner in Cape Town yesterday. The awards for the CSSAWCC ICT personality of the year and the ICT student, woman and chairman awards were also presented at the dinner.

"More and more of our learners must have the opportunity to enjoy the enhanced learning experience computers provide. As [a provincial department of] education we have injected considerable financial resources into education technology. We are committed to ensuring all our high schools have access to computer labs by end of this year," he said.
