The Independent Examinations Board (IEB) is experiencing technical difficulties with its Web site due to the large amount of traffic.

This is as a result of IEB matriculants attempting to check their results, which were released today, online.

CEO Anne Oberholzer says the fault lay with the IEB online ADSL line.

“The IEB apologises on behalf of Telkom for any inconvenience that may have been caused during the downtime period.”

Head of support services at the IEB Margie Luckay says the site went down around 9am and is still experiencing difficulties. “It has just been bombarded.”

When speaking to ITWeb this morning, she said the ADSL routers were being restarted.

IEB students can check their results online by submitting their examination numbers and birth dates on IEB-online.

SMS results

Government schools can also check matric results online on the Department of Web site when they are released tomorrow.

“The results, which are now firmly under lock and key, will be given to the minister as she prepares her speech. Her speech will be carried live by SABC1 at 6pm on 4 January 2012 so as to grant family members of learners to be part of the ceremony. The minister will also present to the nation the top 10 learners,” says the department.

Matric results will also be available on SABC's news-on-phone service NewsBreak 082 152.

From tomorrow morning, students can call 082 152, select option six, and punch in their identification and exam numbers to get their results.

Learners can also get their results via text message by registering for the SABC News Matric Results SMS Service. They can SMS their number to 35935, and their examination number in the reply SMS, and then receive results on the day of release.
