India invests in SMEs

Indian small and medium enterprises (SMEs) will soon be introduced to a three-year training programme, says Live Mint.com.

The Visionary SME Programme, set for a September-end launch, will have a contribution from experts at the Indian Institute of Management, Calcutta and the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras, along with Shobishiba, a Japanese management consultant.

The programme will start with 15 firms initially and the volume of participation will grow later, depending on the success of the maiden run.

Remote users increase

The National Gateway Survey 2008 has shown an increased move towards remote and mobile use by companies - indicating a change in how company networks are structured, says SME Web.

The survey of 341 UK SME companies showed 48% had over 150 remote users and a further 11% had 50 to 100 remote users.

Sixty-one percent said the number of remote users on their company network was increasing. Forty-five percent reported that the number of virtual private networks was increasing and 43% said the number of SSL users was increasing.
