IndigoCube partners with Mountain Goat for advanced agile training

Johannesburg, 01 Feb 2011

IndigoCube has partnered with US-based Mountain Goat Software in order to deliver its agile training courses to the local market. The partnership complements IndigoCube's existing training and consulting offering and kicks off in February 2011.

“Mike Cohn, the founder of Mountain Goat Software, is an industry icon,” says Ziaan Hattingh, MD of IndigoCube. “He has over 15 years of experience in scrum and agile, has worked with some of the top Fortune 500 companies and even small start-up companies. He's worked in aerospace, banking, and video game development; he is at the top of his game and his business has developed the finest set of agile methodology courses available.”

“Mike Cohn is without doubt one of the top gurus in the agile world,” says Jaco Viljoen, principal consultant for agile development at IndigoCube. “He is actively involved with the agile worldwide community, such as Scrum Alliance, and he's written various books on agile topics that are widely regarded as the authority on the subject.”

“Our focus is on helping companies adopt and improve their use of agile principles and practices in order to build extremely high performance software development organisations,” says Cohn.

The courses IndigoCube will offer locally through its own highly experienced trainers, who have all attended Cohn's Mountain Goat Software courses in the US, and who will replicate the experience here, consist of:

* Working on a Scrum Project (Certified ScrumMaster)
* Agile estimating and planning
* Effective user stories for agile requirements
* Certified Scrum product owner

“We found that most agile consulting and training providers in South Africa offer basic agile services and training,” says Viljoen. “With Mike Cohn and Mountain Goat Software as our partner we will offer that and, in addition, zero in on specialised areas of agile development. An example is 'Agile estimation and planning', which is also the title of one of Cohn's books.”

The Mountain Goat Software agile courses from IndigoCube are aimed at all people involved in agile software development. That means ScrumMasters, product owners, developers, testers, people who want to move into agile or are compelled to move into agile, such as software development project managers, team leads, business analysts, and more, including business executives.

The cost to attend will be in line with the cost of IndigoCube's existing courses, duration could vary between one and two days, and they will be presented at IndigoCube's offices in Hyde Park.
