Ingram intros SME solution
Ingram Micro is offering a point-of-sale (POS) solution bundle intended to meet the security needs of small and medium retail environments, says Channel Web.
Available through the channel, the bundle continues Ingram Micro's push to expand its POS retail offerings through its Micro Data Capture/POS division.
"Our channel partners keep telling us that they want more solutions [and] bundles like this - simple, high-value solutions that are ready out of the box," said Marc Rachiele, director of vendor management and marketing for the division.
Analytics application fuels GHD sales
GHD sells hair straighteners, hairstyling accessories and finishing products around the world, and has an annual turnover of more than £100 million, according to Computing.co.uk.
Much of the company's rapid growth from a humble UK start-up in 2001 has been down to its ability to analyse customers' online behaviour to maximise the impact of promotions and marketing campaigns, says GHD Internet solutions manager Spencer Hudson.
Having previously used various combinations of traditional Web analytics packages and in-house applications for this purpose, GHD installed a new analytics application from Speed-Trap around 12 months ago following a six-month consultation.
Living next door to Apple
Microsoft will open its new high-street stores near those of rival Apple, as it aggressively chases retail customers, states PC Pro.
"We're going to have some retail stores opened up right next door to Apple stores this fall," confirms Microsoft's Kevin Turner at a Webcast conference in New Orleans.
The world's largest software company announced in February that it would open its own chain of branded stores as it looks to counter Apple's successful foray into retailing.
