Ingram Micro SA CEO Peter Ibbotson will step down effective immediately, and is to be replaced by Hansie Fourie.
The company says Ibbotson's commitment to the MB Technologies Group, in terms of Ingram Micro, was agreed as short-term from the start and that Ibbotson will remain in a consulting role for the group.
"I was tasked with building partnerships with international vendors and the local system builder channel, and getting other operational aspects of the company established in SA," Ibbotson explains.
"I'm satisfied that I've achieved what I set out to in terms of the mandate," he says, "and as per my agreement with MB Technologies, the reins will be handed over to Hansie, who will steer the company from here on in."
Ibbotson plans to continue with his other interests and will assist MB Technologies where required.
Incoming CEO Fourie is upbeat about Ingram Micro's market position.
"Ingram Micro SA has great technology partners and relationships with the local channel, and is one of the most sought-after distribution brands in the world," he says.
"I believe the IT industry in SA is now a mature industry and as such, requires a professional approach with much emphasis on the basics of running a business successfully.
"I'm looking forward to reporting healthy growth figures both in revenue and unit shipments in a year's time," he concludes.
