Intec Telecom System says its $74.5 million (R499 million) purchase of ADC`s Singl.eView retail billing software division gives it expanded global reach and 60% of the world`s top 100 telecommunications carriers as customers.
Intec announced earlier this week it had bought the Singl.eView retail billing software division from ADC Telecommunications. The deal was originally announced in June and was on condition of shareholder approval, which had to be obtained at an extraordinary general meeting.
UK-listed Intec Telecom Systems, which was founded by former South Africans and has a research and development facility in Cape Town, aims to corner the telecommunications operations systems software (OSS) billing market by supplying systems that allow the various network operators to accurately measure the cost of calls made on each other`s networks.
The Singl.eView product line will now enable Intec to enter the retail billing market.
The deal approximately doubles Intec`s staff team, adding more than 630 new employees worldwide.
"With the acquisition of Singl.eView, Intec now has the three key revenue-generating OSS applications: retail, interconnect and content; plus three critical network-facing OSS: convergent mediation, service activation and real-time charging," says Intec executive chairman, Mike Frayne.
Frayne says the acquisition also enlarges Intec`s global presence with a total staff team of 1 300 people based in 26 offices worldwide. Intec now has over 320 people in product development and over 680 in professional services.
