JSE-listed Gijima has promoted its COO into the CEO position, on an interim basis.
The move will ensure there is a smooth handover before outgoing CEO Jonas Bogoshi vacates his office at the end of the year, Gijima said in a statement to shareholders. Bogoshi said towards the end of last month that he would leave the company after five years at the helm.
Gijima says Eileen Wilton will take over the reins of the company, while the "board's process to identify an appropriate candidate for appointment as new CEO continues". Bogoshi will work closely with Wilton during this period as part of his handover, the group says.
Wilton was appointed as COO in June and has a BCom (Hons) and a higher diploma in education. She has also been appointed as an alternate director to Bogoshi for the remainder of his term of office.
Wilton took over from Debbie Zwane-Chikura, who resigned as COO in March, after less than a year in the position, to pursue "other interests".
Bogoshi told ITWeb last month that he had given himself five years with the company as CEO and the time had come to move on. He presided over a difficult period for the group as it lost large parts of two major deals and went through a restructuring exercise that saw it cut jobs.
According to Who's Who, Bogoshi was the chief director of strategic services at SITA between 2004 and 2007. He has also worked for blue chip companies such as IBM and Cisco Systems.
