Internet tech endangers kids

Stop Child Predators launched a public campaign called Stop Predators, designed to increase of emerging Internet technologies that can endanger children's safety and privacy, reports Marketwatch.

One emerging technology that has caused concern is Google Street View, a new application that allows users to view high-resolution images of homes, schools, playgrounds, and other places where children gather.

Stop Internet Predators seeks to limit the potential for child predators to abuse Street View technology to prey on children and encourages parents and communities to urge local leaders to ban Street View until it has been safeguarded.

AT&T reveals future tech

AT&T unveiled its prototype technologies developed under the internal company programme called AT&T 2.0, reports Dailyadvance.

Some of the inventions include an iPhone, which can be used to hurl a virtual tomato at your TV, an on-screen peek through traffic cameras, technology that allows you to speak into a remote control to search for shows and the ability to watch 3D TV without special glasses.

These new inventions marked AT&T's strategic focus on mobility and video.

Comet gets thumbs up

A report evaluating the performance of the Federal Government's Commercialising Emerging Technologies (Comet) programme has been released, reports Industrialit.

The evaluation noted the programme had succeeded in facilitating the commercialisation of innovative products, services and processes, and recommends the programme be expanded and continued for another five years.

Comet was first established in 1999, aimed at supporting early-growth stage and spin-off companies in commercialising their technological innovations, by awarding grants of up to $120 000.
