IT sector lacks staff

IT executives are interested in using established frameworks to improve technology governance, but they just don't have enough bodies to do the job, according to a newly released global survey, says CIO.com.

The IT Governance Institute publishes a global survey of 23 countries every couple of years, commissioning consulting firm PricewaterhouseCoopers to conduct the research.

This year the survey showed awareness of frameworks such as the Control Objectives for Information and Related Technology (COBIT) has doubled since 2005, but there was a 23% jump in the number who cited insufficient staff to manage IT effectively.

Vordel in governance quadrant

Vordel has been positioned in the Visionaries Quadrant of the recent inaugural Gartner's Magic Quadrant report on service-oriented architecture (SOA) governance, says JDJ.

Vordel's XML network management products provide high performance, enterprise-level solutions to enable enterprises to confidently deploy SOA.

"SOA governance allows an organisation to understand and control exactly how its SOA is being used," said Hugh Carroll, VP of marketing with Vordel.

Kerala turns back on proprietary systems

Kerala's e-governance initiatives have decisively turned its back to Proprietary software systems like Microsoft, says The Financial Express.

This was evident when the state's first active Web GIS (Geographical Information System) was launched in public domain this week.

The GIS was developed using open source software technology.
