Time is rapidly running out for IT professionals to have their say regarding who should be named SA`s IT Personality of the Year for 2003.

Voting for the award - which recognises individuals who have made outstanding achievements in their careers and significant contributions to the local IT industry - closes on Friday.

This year`s nominees include SA Revenue Services Ken Jarvis, Blue IQ`s Pradeep Maharaj and Datacentrix`s Gary Morolo.

Also on the list are Standard direct director Dr Alewyn Burger, Imvo Technologies CEO Cecil Machi, Standard Chartered Bank retail banking head Christo Davel, Altron executive director Dali Mpofu, and Nexus Connexion chairman Kennedy Memani.

Making up the rest of the nominees are Cape Information Initiative executive director Masedi Molosiwa and Syspro CEO Phillip Duff.

The top 10 were selected from nearly 60 nominations received from ITWeb readers and members of the Computer Society of SA (CSSA), and will be whittled down to five finalists by the judges. The winner will be announced at the CSSA president`s banquet on 22 October.

The four judges are: last year`s winner, Benjamin Mophatlane, CEO of Business Connexion; Rajendra Moodley, CSSA president; Peter Riches, MD of Meta Group SA; and Jovan Regasek, MD of ITWeb.

The IT Personality of the Year award is presented annually by the CSSA in association with ITWeb and the Meta Group.
