Lenore Kerrigan has been replaced as Oracle South Africa`s managing director by Oracle UK telecommunications manager Robin Morello.
According to an anonymous source, Kerrigan faced accusations from the board regarding her performance. It is still unclear whether she resigned or was fired, while Oracle`s official line is that she is leaving due to management structure changes in the company.
Kerrigan joined Oracle a little over a year ago, after the company endured a three-month stint with no leader. Her position has been in doubt since April, when Oracle brought in its senior VP, Ian Smith (who answers directly to Larry Ellison, Oracle founder and chief executive), to "realign" its local operations with its European division.
Marc Gower, Oracle marketing manager, is quoted in Friday`s Business Day as stating: "We were proud to have a woman MD in SA, but difficulties came from the management structure above her."
A press conference with Morello is scheduled for tomorrow afternoon. Neither Oracle nor Kerrigan were available for comment at time of publication.
