ICT infrastructure solutions and services company Logicalis has expanded its base in the US by buying Network Infrastructure Corporation (NIC) for an undisclosed amount.
Logicalis is dual-listed Datatec's second-largest unit and accounted for $479 million of the company's $2.13 billion in revenue in the half-year to August.
The company saw revenue, gross and operating margins improving year-on-year, aided by profitability in the US improving, as the sector continued to recover.
NIC is a Cisco Gold Partner, which focuses on the Southwest region of the US. It was one of the few remaining independently-owned Cisco Gold Partners in the US and turns over about $20 million a year.
The business will be integrated into Logicalis' US operation to strengthen its presence in the Southwest. Logicalis aims to deploy some of NIC's best practices nationally, in particular in the education vertical, to other regional operations in the US.
Datatec CEO Jens Montanana says the deal “grows Logicalis' Southwest US presence and reinforces the Cisco US relationship”.
“NIC has an enviable services revenue mix and extensive expertise in a fast developing vertical where Logicalis has limited exposure. The acquisition will allow expansion into educational markets in adjacent territories, along with the Logicalis' portfolio of solutions and services.”
Logicalis has operations in the UK, US, Germany, Latin America and Asia Pacific.
