"The market trend is definitely away from catch-all software solutions to those designed for specific verticals because they provide a much better fit and greater value for money," says Keith Mullan, MD of Johannesburg-based M-Five Software.
In line with this trend, M-Five Software has signed an agreement with Danish developer Maconomy to distribute software solutions for the auditing, consulting, legal, advertising and marketing verticals.
"Maconomy`s project and financial management systems are designed to improve the management and control of projects and processes across departments and organisations," says Mullan. "When no similar solution could be found locally, M-Five decided to sign a distributor agreement with Maconomy because it fits so well into the M-Five stable."
Mullan says Web-based Maconomy systems give real-time visibility at all levels and improve business control.
"We have chosen to distribute Maconomy throughout English-speaking Africa because of its strength in the targeted verticals and strong fully integrated financial system."
Mullan says Maconomy increases project efficiency through time monitoring, workflow management and accounting integration, and delivers a quick return on investment through rapid installation and low cost implementation
Maconomy runs on all platforms, including Microsoft Windows, Unix and Linux, and uses several databases, including Oracle and SQL.
"Maconomy is aimed at the lower end of the enterprise market, including small, medium and micro enterprises," says Mullan.
