The Nelson Mandela Foundation has developed a smartphone app which gives users access to over 2 000 quotes from the former South African president.
The app sends users a quote once a day in a notification. It is also the only authorised and authenticated collection of Nelson Mandela quotations.
There are two versions of the app: the free version gives quotes at random, the full version supports browse and search through the entire collection.
The full version costs R69.99 in the Apple app store. Both versions are available on the Android and iOS platforms.
The quotes are collected from Mandela's personal archive of private papers, speeches, correspondence and audio recordings spanning over 60 years. Some quotes featured in the app have never been published before.
In the full version, there are over 300 categories to search through, including courage, democracy, character, racism and optimism.
