Micromuse`s Netcool solutions support growth of Multiservice Edge Market

Netcool Solutions help service providers manage convergence network devices and services on MSE platform
By Micromuse
Johannesburg, 08 Feb 2005

Micromuse, a provider of ultra-scalable, real-time business and service assurance software, has announced pre-integrated support for Multiservice Edge platforms via its Netcool family of products. Micromuse recognises the growing Multiservice Edge (MSE) market by offering established and best-in-class Operations Support Systems (OSS) management solutions for today`s large, carrier-grade, multiservice networks.

Netcool solutions provide organisations with a comprehensive, real-time and actionable view of their business and IT operations, including the MSE platform, its core/subscriber interfaces and the Internet Protocol/Multi Protocol Label Switching (IP/MPLS) services it supports. This information allows service providers to smoothly migrate to MSE devices and helps minimise the risk of convergence implementations. Netcool solutions already support the recently announced Nortel Network Multiservice Provider Edge (MPE) 9000 series platform.

Says Eric Jorgensen, continent director - Africa for Micromuse, "The broad spectrum of network equipment manufacturers and technologies that interoperate with Micromuse`s Netcool suite is core to helping our Service Provider customers manage their converging multiple communications networks over IP/MLPS. Micromuse will continue partnering with industry leaders, like Nortel, to ensure that our customers can manage their MSE platforms more efficiently and cost effectively."

The Netcool suite ensures customers` ability to deliver an optimal service experience, manage operations efficiently, increase return on investment, and achieve process efficiencies across the OSS infrastructure featuring MSE platforms.

Micromuse will support MSE platforms by monitoring vendor-specific and industry-standard Management Information Bases (MIBs), including RFC 2547, and provides pre-packaged management support to Multi Protocol Label Switching (MPLS), Voice over Internet Protocol (VoiP), Internet Protocol Virtual Private Network (IP VPN), Asynchronous Transfer Mode (ATM), Frame Relay, Ethernet, Digital Subscriber Line (DSL) and Wi-Fi devices and services.
