Microsoft cancels conference
Citing the recession and cutbacks in travel budgets, Microsoft has cancelled this year's October Microsoft BI Conference, according to a posting on the company's Web site blog, states ChannelWeb.
Microsoft also disclosed that from now on, the BI conference will be a biennial event, with the next conference scheduled for October 2010 in Seattle and subsequent conferences held every other year.
"We heard from our customers and partners that due to global economic constraints to travel budgets worldwide, we should make the BI conference a biennial event," the blog said.
BI summit supports SMEs
The Business Intelligence Summit, being held in Dallas, Texas on 14 May, will kick off the first of a series of events in the US with intensive sessions to help small businesses succeed in the current challenging economy, reports Sys-Con Media.
The events will allow existing and developing companies to connect and collaborate on solutions that support their business in today's environment and well into the future.
Small business owners will learn techniques that can strengthen their businesses, increase customer loyalty and position them for growth.
Intellectual property BI app updated
Innography, an intellectual property BI company, has released Innography Spring '09, the next-generation version of its intellectual property BI application, says Sys-Con Media.
Innography's online IP BI tool delivers critical business insights through proprietary discovery algorithms and predictive analytics, enabling organisations to improve their IP workflows and revenue opportunities.
“The latest Innography release adds new features that can significantly reduce the time it takes to find the needle in the haystack,” said Michael Reed, patent attorney with Schwegman, Lundberg & Woessner.
