Microsoft fights for European market

During his keynote speech at this week's Gamefest UK event, David Gosen, Microsoft's VP of strategic marketing in Europe, confirmed that his company will be investing heavily in the European market to make sure the Xbox 360 console becomes the "region's console of choice", says After Dawn.

Gosen added that he believes the "Xbox is going to be the platform that wins this hardware generation," and that Europe was key.

"We're investing to win in Europe," he explained. "We can do better and we're incredibly well-placed to drive success in the region. We've got to make sure we tailor our resource needs to the games we are making."

VTech offers kids gaming

VTech, a leading consumer-focused technology company, has released a new gaming system of its own aimed at young children called the V.Smile V-Motion Active Learning System, says Indystar E.

V-Motion combines motion-activated video gaming with educational content to teach three- to seven-year-olds math, reading, science, spelling and logical thinking.

The V-Motion system comes with a 12-by-7-inch console that plugs into a television, using the AV input jacks.

Alliance to present horizon research

The PC Gaming Alliance (PCGA) has an upcoming presentation at the Games Convention Developer's Conference in Leipzig, Germany, on 19 August, says IGN.

Randy Stude, president of the PCGA and director of Intel's Gaming Program Office, will present the contents of the first-ever worldwide PC Gaming "Horizons" research report.

He will also discuss challenges for the industry, from PC game platform promotion to creating a standardised minimum system requirement.
