Indian-based MicroWorld Technologies has set a target of $4m in sales of its antivirus and security products through the South African channel by the end of the year.
That's according to Sunil Kripalani, MicroWorld vice-president of global sales and marketing, on a recent visit to the local office.
MicroWorld has offices in the US, Germany, Malaysia and India and a presence in over 84 countries through a network of more than 13 000 channel partners who resell the company's desktop and server-based antivirus and security products. Kriplani says MicroWorld wants to expand the local office and use SA as a hub for the rest of Africa.
"We are focused on the channel," says Kripalani. "Ninety-five percent of our business is done through our partners: distributors, resellers, security partners and republishers. Partners get access to aggressive pricing, customisation options for large customers and rebranding opportunities."
MicroWorld already offers its products through local ISP Atlantic, but Kripalani says he is looking to tie up agreements with retailers and local distributors as soon as possible. The company's flagship products include eScan, an all-inclusive antivirus offering for Windows desktops, and Mailscan, a mail content scanner that supports nearly 30 different kinds of mail servers across multiple operating systems.
MicroWorld also offers multiple language support and free around-the-clock technical support. The company is now 12 years old and has enjoyed 150% year-on-year growth since it was founded.
