Entrepreneur Magazine SA received fifth place for a Tabbie Award, following its feature on Mimecast founders Neil Murray and Peter Bauer, and MD Brandon Bekker.
Entrepreneur was up against 400 other international business magazines in this year's awards by the Trade Association Business Publications International (TABPI). The feature article on Mimecast placed fifth overall in the Best Feature Article Category, and the issue in which the article appeared - November 2014 - placed 20th overall for Best Single Issue.
"We submitted the profile on Mimecast's founders Peter Bauer and Neil Murray for the category of Best Feature Article because it was an excellent example of everything we look for in high-impact entrepreneurs. They bootstrapped the business, operating as lean as possible and selling what they could to keep the company afloat in the early months," says Nadine Todd, Managing Editor, Entrepreneur Media SA.
Todd goes on to explain that Mimecast faced a multitude of challenges, any one of which would have been enough for many start-ups to throw in the towel, but Murray and Bauer didn't give up but kept pushing forward instead. They learnt, implemented and are now sharing valuable business lessons along the way; and they've always been focused on high-impact growth.
"Their candid willingness to share these challenges and lessons with readers made for a really compelling story, filled with advice that other entrepreneurs can implement in their own businesses, which the TABPIs recognised," she adds.
