MIP appoints Milton Segal as FD

Johannesburg, 28 Feb 2008

Milton Segal has been appointed as financial director of MIP Holdings, one of South Africa's fastest growing software companies.

Segal qualified as a chartered accountant (CA) at age 25 after completing his articles at Grant Thornton where he was a five-star rated clerk. During that time, he met and worked with many diverse and influential people and organisations, one of them being MIP. He came to know the company through his role as audit clerk for MIP's 2003 and 2005 year-end audits.

Segal was one of the first 40 CAs countrywide to qualify as a registered assessor with the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants (SAICA), enabling him to represent SAICA as an officer at any audit firm in South Africa. It also empowers him to decide whether a clerk has the necessary core competencies to be admitted to the profession as a CA.

After a short period at Citibank, where he served as a financial analyst, he was offered the opportunity to join MIP as financial manager in January 2007.

During his first year at the company, he established and implemented a firm set of controls and procedures and developed a good working relationship with his colleagues and directors, and with MIP's clients.

Following a successful and highly profitable 2007, in which MIP produced its finest financial results to date, he was appointed to the board of directors. At age 28 he is the youngest member of the board and one of the youngest financial directors in the country.

Segal will focus on building relationships with clients and bolstering the partnerships MIP has established. He will also play a key role in the continuous improvement of MIP's unique annuity-based billing model.

He has Bachelor of Commerce and Bachelor of Accounting degrees from Wits University.
