Software development company MIP Holdings has launched an international consulting division to provide development assistance to other software solution providers and to leverage the exposure it received at the Progress user conference in Washington DC in June this year.
The division is working on three major projects: The SwissCare Hospital Administration system for DataSwiss, in Switzerland; the ongoing development of the Dynamics range of products for Progress Software in Boston; and the integration of Progress tools into Dutch-based Westlake`s Cargomate freight forwarding system.
"We expect annual growth of 25% from the new division," says Johan Meyer, who has been appointed director of the division.
MIP is one of Progress Software`s largest independent software vendors (ISVs) in SA.
Discussions with other ISVs at the conference highlighted the lack of resources and expertise in development, integration and consulting skills, locally and worldwide. MIP saw this as a clear opportunity to deploy its resources and depth of skills in the Progress arena to assist companies in the US, Europe and SA in implementing and developing projects.
The new consulting division specialises in providing assistance for software developers in converting and upgrading their existing systems to the Progress Dynamics platform. Its mission is to deliver full development and integration services in international consulting. Its consulting services include intensive training, migration from existing products to client requirements, and the supply of on-site consultants to provide clients with the expertise and advice which are MIP`s key differentiators.
The division comprises nine permanent staff, of whom three are new appointees.
"We are also looking to assist Progress Software SA in the setting up and running of its empowerment centre, which will provide advanced technical training in the extension of existing applications," says Meyer.
