Industry experts will cover a wide array of mobile and issues at the ITWeb/Blueprint Intelligence Hotspot 2004 event next week.

Among the topics to be covered will be the future of wireless e-business and mobile and in the South African environment.

IBM wireless e-business manager Werner Lindemann will look at the changes and factors driving the uptake of mobility in SA, as well as future trends in the wireless market. "I will discuss things from a wireless perspective, and how the industry can start providing solutions rather than just technology."

Lindemann will also focus on what businesses need to do in order to be truly pervasive. "There are three crucial factors involved here: companies must have access to all data at any time, have the ability to use any device, and to communicate via any network. These are all requisites of a wholly pervasive business."

Lindemann will also cover the challenges facing wireless business, and will provide a demonstration regarding wireless e-business at the end of his presentation.

In her presentation at the Hotspot 2004 event, IT lawyer Lisa Thornton will discuss mobile policy and regulation in the South African environment.

"My presentation will cover the policy and law of mobile communications, including issues of mobile cellular telecommunications, multimedia communications, hotspots, wireless and mobile Internet access, and convergence."

The event will be held at The Forum in Bryanston on 23 and 24 March.
