Mobile tech helps SME

Smaller businesses are coping with increased competition in the marketplace by using mobile technology to keep up-to-date with customers' demands, a new report has found, says ITPro.

Nearly half of all small and medium enterprises (SMEs) are winning more business thanks to mobile technology, according to a poll conducted by Ipsos MORI and Research In Motion.

The survey reveals that of the 150 UK SME owners asked, 48% are winning new business thanks to the use of mobile technology.

SMEs value training

SMEs invest more and more in the further training of their employees, as was revealed by a survey carried out by the TechConsult market research company among 400 German businesses, says Just4Business.

Eighty-nine percent of interviewees are already offering their employees particular training courses. One-quarter of MDs think that computer and Internet-based e-learning is an alternative to traditional courses where attendance is required.

Only 9% of those companies interviewed think that there is no need for further training and therefore do not offer it.

Dell taps Indian SME market

Dell plans to have presence in 100 Indian cities in the next six months, says The Business Standard.

The announcement is part of the company's strategy to increase its share in the Indian SME and the consumer segment.

Rajan Anandan, VP and GM of Dell India, feels there is huge potential in India. "Indian is the fastest growing market for Dell worldwide. The addressable SME market is 3.92 million. We also realise that 90% of the business done is through channels and 55% of SMEs trust their recommendation."
