Microsoft has released its biannual Security Intelligence Report (SIRv13) and a new free Cloud Security Readiness Tool.
Speaking during her keynote at RSA Conference 2012, in London, yesterday, Adrienne Hall, GM of Trustworthy Computing at Microsoft, started with a story of her recent holiday in Croatia, at a restaurant, on an island of 1 800 people, where she heard news of the Gauss malware being mentioned several times.
She said this clearly illustrated that cyber threats are becoming a part of everyday life, for everyone. "For security professionals, intelligence and data are critical to managing the potential impact of these threats."
It was with this in mind that the Trustworthy Computing Group produced the Microsoft Security Intelligence Report (SIR). The report offers insights into the current threat landscape with detailed analysis of threat trends and mitigations to cope with them, both globally and in detail across 105 regions.
Alongside the report, Hall spoke about the new, free Cloud Security Readiness Tool, unveiled by the company yesterday, which she said businesses can use to better understand their systems, processes, policies and practices and improve their current IT states, learn relevant industry regulations, and receive guidance on evaluating cloud adoption.
Hall added that the tool helps businesses gain a good understanding of how cloud adoption compares to their existing policies, procedures and compliance.
"It enables organisations to easily evaluate cloud services against critical areas and compliance with common industry standards."
