MyWireless customers to receive complete security peace of mind

By Livewired Communications
Johannesburg, 27 Sept 2005

Sentech, the supplier of communication solutions and services to wholesale and retail markets in Africa, has recently concluded an agreement with the global leader in consumer security software, Symantec, to offer its MyWireless customers access to global security standards and resources for their complete peace of mind.

Michelle Potgieter, General Manager, Marketing and Communications, says: "Sentech recognises that virus protection is crucial for our customers' security profile. Any consumer or small and medium business accessing the Internet, in particular those using an 'always on' broadband connection, can be vulnerable to virus invasion and open to harmful spam via e-mail. These security issues are cause for real concern not only from a virus attack perspective, but also from a productivity and cost perspective as well. This exclusive deal enables MyWireless users to have as much as 50% discount on certain products."

As a company with a vision to become a leader in providing world-class broadband communication solutions, Sentech identified Symantec as a security partner that could offer the finest protection available to the consumer market, through offering Sentech MyWireless customers the security products, services and support they require. Not only will this partnership ensure that customers are protected on a 24x7 basis, maintaining high availability levels and complete data protection, but this in turn will certify the added security and stability of the Sentech network that comes as a result of our customers being 100% secure.

Patrick Evans, regional director, Symantec sub-Saharan Africa, says: "We are very pleased to be partnering with Sentech on this wide-scale consumer protection programme and applaud such initiatives. This, coupled with our shared vision to ensure that all consumers are security conscious and of course fully protected from the many threats in the Internet arena, ensures that our partnership with Sentech provides their customers with cost-effective pricing on our products."

As of Thursday, 1 September 2005, Symantec's home security products, including Norton Internet Security 2005, Norton AntiVirus 2005 and Norton AntiSpam, have been available to Sentech MyWireless customers at the special discounted rates, all of which is accessible via the Sentech (www.sentech.co.za).

"One of our key commitments and business objectives is to drive consumer education especially around the importance of taking stringent IT security measures, particularly when utilising an always-on Internet connectivity solution. We therefore look forward to working with Sentech on this project to ensure a secure and safe online environment for their MyWireless customers," concludes Evans.
