The Netgear EVA8000 Media Receiver is now available in South Africa from Duxbury Networking. The device allows for the streaming of high-definition video and other streaming digital content such as music and photographs to home entertainment systems, including HDTV sets.
This exciting device is first-to-market, with HDMI streaming of a variety of digital content in high definition," says Graham Duxbury, managing director for Duxbury Networking.
He explains that unlike other media players that are severely limited in what content can be streamed for playback, the EVA8000 is able to stream HD movies, YouTube videos, BitTorrent downloads, Flickr photos and iTunes music.
These can be streamed from networked computers, storage devices and the Internet to home theatre systems. The EVA8000 also controls PC-PVR recordings remotely and allows users to access iPods and other media devices.
"The EVA8000 basically brings the world of digital and online content to your living room," says Duxbury. "It forms the centre of the digital home, bringing together media from computers and other devices throughout the house and from all over the Internet."
This must-have device supports open standards for streaming digital content from Windows as well as Apple Mac computers, network storage devices, USB media devices, and from popular Internet sites. It is also backed by a one year warranty and full technical support.
The EVA8000 has already also wracked up an impressive array of rewards. Named a "Best of CES" product by CNET, Laptop Magazine, the Chicago Tribune and a host of other media outlets, the Digital Entertainer HD was also included in a Forbes.com feature story on 'The Hottest Technology of 2007'.
And unlike other media players, the EVA8000 is simple to set up and use," promises Duxbury. "It automatically discovers HD movies, TV shows, music files and personal photos on a home network and organises these into a single library displayed on a TV. You don't even need to have media server software running on any of the networked computers."
Beyond digital media, the EVA8000 also supports RSS news feeds which can be used to view the latest news, weather reports and other online syndicated information.
And this all from the comfort of your couch, using the included remote control," says Duxbury.
