Network Associates has announced Sniffer Mobile, a solution that enables service providers and personal communication services (PCS) providers to ensure optimal performance, availability and security of their 2.5G and 3G mobile data networks.

Developed as a mechanism for network administrators to maximise the quality of service delivered to mobile data customers, the Sniffer Mobile solution offers advanced network analysis, visualisation, and troubleshooting capabilities. These features provide administrators with the visibility required to avoid service interruptions, maximise response time and lower the total cost of network operations. Sniffer Mobile also provides administrators with granular visibility into mobile data performance for effective infrastructure planning and configuration management.
The Sniffer Mobile software module runs on the Sniffer Distributed appliance, providing protocol decodes for CDMA2000, UMTS (W-CDMA), and GPRS core networks. While delivering insight into mobile data communications, the solution retains the ability to provide expert analysis and proactive management of the TCP/IP-based communications that also exist on these next generation networks.
In addition, the Sniffer Mobile solution combines granular filtering and reporting capabilities that provide graphical measurement of system performance, usage and trends that enable administrators to efficiently pinpoint the source of current and potential problems. Reporting options include protocol distribution, top conversations, and application response time.
