SecureData, which was bought by MB Technologies (MBT) for R85 million last year, has appointed Ivor Daniels as acting MD.

This comes after Miles Crisp took over the CEO role at MBT, and CTO Wayne Olsen leaves the company to take a break. Crisp says Daniels, who was GM of national sales, has stepped up as acting MD, as the company's preference "remains to promote from within".

Crisp says Olsen's departure was a "bit sudden", but amicable, and the way forward is now sorted. Olsen had been tipped to take over from Crisp, but he says these discussions were never finalised.

Crisp replaced Glenn Fullerton, who stepped down in November 2013 after 14 years with the company due to a "horrible" cycling accident.

Olsen says he has decided to get out of distribution, after being in the game for 10 years. He notes he is still on "fantastic terms" with the previous team and had been discussing his departure post SecureData's sale.

The sale, which had been in the pipeline for some time, was a "job well done", says Olsen. He notes the past three years had been stressful and he is now going to take some time off to spend with his family, and focus on his hobbies, before looking for the next challenge

Olsen initially joined SecureData in 2003, as a financial services account manager, until his departure in 2009. He then spent two years at HP heading up for sub-Saharan Africa, before moving back to SecureData in 2011 as CTO.
