A new black economic empowerment (BEE) company, Xantium Technology Holdings, has launched in SA.

The full IT company aims to provide business and IT consulting solutions to selected blue-chip companies, as well as to local and provincial government

Company shareholdings comprise 10% historically disadvantaged individuals, 10% public (mixed race) and 12% to staff through its incentive scheme. A further 12 non-BEE and BEE shareholders hold the remaining 68%.

Xantium IT Services MD Kuman Reddy believes the company has found a niche in the market: "South African corporates are looking for true BEE IT partners, that are able to help support the ever-important social development challenges, while still being capable of bringing measurable value to their client's business."

CEO James Murray says the company aims to develop skills through its skills enhancement and learning (Seal) programme: "The Seal programme has a unique incentive scheme, based on mentorship, which encourages individuals to sustain self-growth by rewarding them for being proactive and dynamic. Specific focus of the Seal programme is given to those who have been historically disadvantaged," adds Murray.

The company says it has developed strategic alliances with major technology partners, including Microsoft, Cisco Systems, Computer Associates and PeopleSoft.
