Duxbury Networking has launched a new South African designed tri-band GPRS modem for fast data transfer over GSM networks. The Duxbury GPRS+WLAN modem is geared for use at remote locations where it is able to set up virtual connections between a remote device and a central computer.
It supports data, SMS and e-mail messaging, incorporates a mini-SIM card reader and features internal antennae for both GPRS and wireless LAN (WLAN) applications.
Its slim design (11 x .4 x 124mm) and light weight (50g) make it ideal for use in a variety of handheld computers, laptops and PDAs as well as fixed devices - such as point of sale terminals - according to Duxbury.
Applications targeted include the remote monitoring and control of security services and vending machines as well as corporate fleet management, tele-service provision, and the management of traffic control and navigation systems.
