Floors Electronic Specifier, a subsidiary of the JSE-listed ITI Technology Holdings Group, yesterday announced its new business solution, Floors On-Line, aimed at specifiers of visual finishes for the construction industry.

Touted as the first ever product of its kind, Floors On-line allows architects, design consultants and interior decorators to identify, visualise and source their requirements using a search engine designed to imitate the human visual selection process. Searches can be conducted using parameters such as colour, theme, grading, pattern and texture, supplier and price.

Speaking at the official launch held at Gallagher Estate, Schalk Burger, MD, Floors Electronic Specifier, said he expects this initiative to open up a new market opportunity both locally and internationally, as the product is exported abroad - to the US early next year, followed by similar launches in the UK and the rest of Europe.

Developed over a period of four years, in conjunction with NCS of Sweden and a European supplier of imaging technology, the product will be rolled out to all businesses in the construction industry, initially free of charge.

Burger also confirmed that Floors On-line would be upgraded every four months, with the ultimate evolution being the seamless integration of the product into all major CAD systems.
