Recently-created Mediro ICT has launched a new unit to take advantage of opportunities in the mining, manufacturing, financial services and government spaces.
The company, which was formed in September, on Friday announced the launch of its Application Consulting Business, the fourth business unit created by the new entity.
Last month, Mediro ICT said it had been appointed as Nasdaq-listed Compuware's sole distributor for SA and sub-Saharan Africa. It also offers business service management solutions.
Mediro Application Consulting MD Pieter Boshoff says the rationale behind the creation of the new unit was to diversify the company's business and add in balance in the vertical markets. He says it is targeting the mining, manufacturing, financial services and public sectors.
Boshoff says the unit's focus will expand over time, but it has chosen the four initial focus areas based on his expertise and knowledge base.
Mediro ICT CEO Joop Groeneveld says: “Application consulting forms a strategic element of the diversified ICT organisation that we are building.”
Boshoff explains that, at the moment, the subsidiary is in start-up mode, but will become an application outsourced service provider focusing on Microsoft, SAP applications and other technologies such as Java.
Mediro ICT will be able to provide a range of affordable application consulting and niche services to a range of enterprise as well as small and medium enterprise customers in the market. In the short-term, the unit will look at strategic resourcing to kick-start the company, says Boshoff.
