Omni-ID eyes Asian markets

Omni-ID is moving into Asia to further its position as a global leader in the RFID industry, says The Earth Times.

The ultra-high frequency RFID technology developer recently spent $15 million (R152.7 million) in additional venture funding focused on strategic market expansion. Now Omni-ID plans to extend its innovation of the RFID industry to the Asian market.

Omni-ID's expansion includes providing RFID offerings to Japan's frequencies, establishing formal sales operations in the region, and preparing strategic partnerships throughout Asia to further the success of RFID deployments around the world.

Savi, Numerex develop asset- solution

Numerex and Savi have partnered to develop a next-generation asset-tracking technology for the defence and homeland security markets, reports UPI.

Numerex and Savi will co-develop an asset-tracking technology that incorporates GPS, active RFID, and satellite communication technologies.

Officials say the new technology, called ST-694 GlobalTag, combines Numerex's machine-to-machine network services and Savi's automatic identification technology service. The ST-694 will offer defence and homeland security authorities, among others, a continuous asset-tracking capability with visibility even while in transit, ensuring that sensitive cargo remains secure.

Alien deploys garment-tracking solution

Alien Technology has installed an RFID-enabled tracking solution that will trace millions of garments per year throughout the supply chain, from the manufacturing plant to the retail sales floor, states RFID News.

The solution was commissioned by Eren Holdings, a conglomerate which both manufactures clothes for major designer brands and operates stores across Turkey.

Alien teamed with STS Technology to create the end-to-end solution for the garment company. The solution uses Alien's tags and other hardware along with an Oracle-based software system. Alien says the Eren Holdings solution is Alien's fifth major, multi-million tag garment-tracking solution installation in Europe.
