Within a week of Kelvin Reynolds` resignation as MD of Oracle SA, Oracle Ireland MD Nicky Sheridan has been appointed as his successor.
Sheridan stepped in as acting MD following Reynolds` resignation last week to pursue his own business interests.
Reynolds` resignation came after just over two years as managing director and under five months as vice-president within the organisation.
Oracle says in a statement that Sheridan will continue to hold both MD positions in Ireland and SA, but will "dedicate the bulk of his time" to the South African operation.
Oracle has not yet commented directly on the decision to appoint someone from outside SA to head up its local operation, but said Sheridan had focused on establishing new offices and developing new markets since joining the organisation in 1990.
Sheridan has identified consumer interaction as one of the key focus areas for Oracle in the wake of a series of acquisitions.
"The fact that Oracle has made 10 acquisitions in as many months makes it important that we assimilate those acquisitions rapidly and communicate effectively with customers," he said in a statement.
