Oracle updates Exalogic cloud software
Cloud software is now available from the company, as well as a new migration tool that allows users to easily and quickly migrate data from Microsoft SQL Server to MySQL, eWeek reports.
Also revealed by Oracle is a new application aimed at electric and other utility companies, Oracle Utilities Operational Device Management, which can help utility companies manage their smart power grids and other infrastructure.
The new Oracle Exalogic Elastic Cloud Software 2.0 will allow users to perform one-click automated deployment of complex, multi-tier business applications. The new version also offers performance gains of up to 10x for applications that run on top of it, as well as faster application provisioning, the company said.
Built on open, industry standard technologies, Oracle Exalogic supports virtualisation of mission-critical business applications with near native performance versus physical servers through Oracle VM integration CIOL writes.
It provides a communication (I/O) fabric, Oracle Exabus, which is the foundation of Oracle Exalogic and ties all Oracle Exalogic system components together.
The new software enables elasticity at the application level through integrated application-to-disk management with Oracle Enterprise Manager 12c.
It also supports consolidation of multiple applications on the same system as a private cloud, while eliminating security risks through complete application isolation.
