GlobeCast has equipped 113 of France Telecom/Orange's sales boutiques with its digital signage solution GlobeCast Captive Audience, reports AVInteractive.
This product will allow France Telecom to remotely aggregate content, create and manage playlists and broadcast to the network of plasma or LCD screens at their different agencies.
Captive Audience is an IP-based digital signage solution that manages in-store displays that inform, entertain and communicate to shoppers.
Retail technology trends revealed
A study titled The Opportunity for Networked Displays and In-Store TV, says successful nationwide rollouts require a stable and steadfast electrical and database infrastructure, reports emediawire.
It says businesses, both big and small, are gaining an edge over their competition by using new retail technology and digital signage advertising networks to help them meet the needs of customers, while increasing brand awareness.
However, the study says rolling out an in-store technology and digital signage campaign can be a daunting process. The most common pitfall for companies deploying new technology platforms is failing to adequately define the project's scope and goals, including electrical and data infrastructure support.
Man City scores
Manchester City Football Club has successfully completed a mobile ticketing trial, but is unable to offer the service until next-generation handsets are developed, says itweek.co.uk.
30 fans were equipped with radio frequency-enabled (RF) phones at the beginning of the season. The phones use near-field communication (NFC) technology to store ticket information and open stadium turnstiles when held against a contactless reader.
Duncan Martin, head of retail at Manchester City, said the trial proved the technology works and that feedback from fans of all ages has been positive.
