Outsourcing CIOs wanted
Most companies want CIO candidates with hands-on management experience and, in particular, those with a track record of handling multiple outsourcing deals, says ITBusiness Edge.
An example of the recent decision of Australian airline Qantas to hire Jamila Gordon as its CIO, based largely upon her experience managing outsourcing initiatives for IBM, is cited.
A similar shift in the CIO's role can be seen at Reuters, which just inked a $1 billion deal with Fujitsu Services to roll-out a standardised IT platform across its global footprint, according to CNET. Three hundred in-house IT staffers will move to Fujitsu, leaving an internal service delivery team of 25.

Tata Consultancy Services will deliver maintenance and support services to Hawaiian's revenue accounting systems for sales, refunds and other exchanges.
Hawaiian executives said the contract will result in increased efficiency and cost savings for the airline.
IBM wins Danish govt contract
IBM has won a contract worth $17.7 million to provide tech support to Denmark's Agricultural Advisory Service, according to InformationWeek.
Under the seven-year deal, IBM will support and maintain an online accounting and bookkeeping system that the Danish government agency operates on behalf of the country's farmers.
The system, called 090, helps farmers maintain income statements and balance sheets, and tracks their value-added tax payments.
