Private business process management company Ovations aims to open global offices.
The Johannesburg-based company hopes to open offices in Australia, Singapore, Europe, the US and perhaps South America in the next few years, says MD Rainer Gaier.
Ovations was formed in 1998. Its client base includes blue chip insurance and banking companies such as Mutual & Federal, Zurich SA and Isle of Man, Sanlam, Santam, Standard Bank, Barclays and Absa, as well as Namfisa, City Couriers and Department of Defence.
Gaier says last year was a difficult one for the industry, and Ovations aims to spend this year regrouping and refining its strategy and focus. “We would rather be a specialised clinic than a general hospital,” he says.
During 2009, the company made two acquisitions. One was CrossStream Systems, an enterprise middleware solutions provider, which Gaier says was a strategic acquisition. Ovations also bought 51% of supply chain consultancy Agility Supply Chain Associates and its transport solutions division PlanForge.
However, after consolidating, Ovations wants to grow its presence in the international market.
It recently received IBM recognition for work management system OvaFlo. The company already has a reseller in Dubai, but now wants to move offshore more aggressively. Gaier says the company will initially target Europe and then aims to expand into the Middle East.
In SA, Ovations wants to garner a share of the public sector market, and has been awarded a contract to implement service-oriented architecture at a government department.
