Philippines pushes ICT for governance
The Philippines is moving toward improving governance through information and communication technology (ICT), states Malaya.
Ray Roxas-Chua, chairman of the Commission on Information and Communications Technology, said the agency is aggressively pushing e-governance, among other strategic objectives, to promote and improve the country's ICT landscape.
Progress could be speeded up, however, if a government chief information officer is named, says Esperanza Espino, president of the Chief Information Officers Forum.
University gets file-tracking system
As part of its e-governance Initiative, Jamia Millia Islamia is soon going to implement file-tracking system software developed by its FTK-Centre for Information Technology, says Hindustan Times.
With the implementation of this utility, Jamia will become the first Indian university to have an online tracking system to monitor movement of files in the university.
The intranet utility will enable authorised users to track their respective papers/files as they move through the administrative hierarchies. The utility has the potential to uncover the bottlenecks in file movement and also help the administration in rational distribution of staff across the university.
STG intros business continuity solution
Strategic Thought Group has made available new capabilities for the management of business continuity within major organisations via new functionality built into its widely deployed Active Risk Manager software, according to Source Wire.
Active Risk Manager Business Continuity Management (ARM BCM) addresses the need for assured business continuity and recovery in the event of major incidents, whether through catastrophic accidents, supply chain failures, pandemic illness, loss of IT systems, or any other major disruption to business processes.
ARM BCM facilitates the identification of business continuity threats, the assessment of the potential impact on the organisation and provides control and monitoring software for the development and maintenance of the plans necessary to protect the business.
