Philippines pushes ICT for governance

The Philippines is moving toward improving through information and communication technology (ICT), states Malaya.

Ray Roxas-Chua, chairman of the Commission on Information and Communications Technology, said the agency is aggressively pushing e-governance, among other strategic objectives, to promote and improve the country's ICT landscape.

Progress could be speeded up, however, if a government chief information officer is named, says Esperanza Espino, president of the Chief Information Officers Forum.

University gets file-tracking system

As part of its e-governance Initiative, Jamia Millia Islamia is soon going to implement file-tracking system software developed by its FTK-Centre for Information Technology, says Hindustan Times.

With the implementation of this utility, Jamia will become the first Indian university to have an online tracking system to monitor movement of files in the university.

The intranet utility will enable authorised users to track their respective papers/files as they move through the administrative hierarchies. The utility has the potential to uncover the bottlenecks in file movement and also help the administration in rational of staff across the university.
