Power cuts in Tshwane result in broadcasting transmission failure

By Livewired Communications
Johannesburg, 25 Oct 2007

Sentech's services in and around Tshwane, as well as the northern parts of the North West, were interrupted on Saturday 20 October 2007, from 11:40am till 3:18pm.

Mains power feeding the site failed on Friday 19 October 2007, where after the Sentech emergency power generator carried the load until 11:40am on Saturday 20 October, when the generator experienced a fault, resulting in the loss of service.

While mobilising a temporary generator, the mains power was restored to the site and all the services were fully functional at about 3:18pm.

While repairs are under way on the standby generator, a temporary emergency power generator has been installed on site.

Sentech wishes to apologise for any inconvenience caused during the transmission failure.
