Recent results from analyst company Dell`Oro Group, examining the worldwide Ethernet switch market, revealed that ProCurve, an HP business unit, led the market in revenue and port shipment growth among top tier enterprise vendors year-over-year for the second quarter of calendar year 2004.
ProCurve Networking also secured the number two position in terms of total Layer 2 through 7 switch port shipments worldwide.
According to Graham Duxbury, managing director of Duxbury Networking, Procurve`s official South African distributor, the results are also indicative of the company`s local market growth, which has been truly noteworthy.
"We are ecstatic about these last results - over the last two quarters, since we`ve started distributing the product, the local growth has also been phenomenal, indeed mirroring the global trend," he adds.
Results on the worldwide Layer 2 through Layer 7 Ethernet switch market revealed that ProCurve`s market leading revenue growth was 25.3% year-over-year while the market grew at 19.4%. ProCurve Networking port shipments grew 42.7% year-over-year while outpacing the overall Ethernet switch market, which grew 29.5%. The business saw consistent and comparable growth around the world.
ProCurve also led the market in Layer 2 through Layer 7 Gigabit switch growth with 354.5% growth year-over-year. In addition, ProCurve`s total Layer 3 switch port shipment market share was number two worldwide with 84.5% port shipment growth year-over-year.
