Progress acquires BPM vendor Savvion

Middleware vendor Progress Software has purchased business process management (BPM) vendor Savvion for approximately $49 million, reports PC World.

Savvion, based in Santa Clara, California, has been in business for 15 years. Its software is used to map out business processes such as how orders are fulfilled or employees are hired. The company also has developed BPM offerings for healthcare, energy, financial services and other verticals.

The Savvion technology will work alongside Progress's business event processing middleware, which monitors system activity in real-time, looking for certain patterns or correlations and triggering corrective actions.

KnowledgeTree, Capsys release integrated module

Enterprise content management provider KnowledgeTree and Capsys, a provider of Web-based document capture management software, have introduced a release module that integrates KnowledgeTree's commercial software-as a-service and on-site editions with Capsys Capture, states ECM Connection.

The release module gives KnowledgeTree users seamless access to Capsys Capture, a browser-based, thin client application that requires no workstation software to be installed or maintained.

The software also includes a powerful workflow and design component that allows users to tailor and manage their capture processes, without requiring programming or scripting, based on the document requirements specific to their business.
